Kaufman and Broad E-mail System

When I joined Kaufman and Broad, the company was using a batch e-mail system that required more than 5 days to deliver a simple inter-office message and frequently lost messages / attachments. I recognized the huge productivity gains that would be realized by replacing the existing system with a state-of-the-art solution.

I designed, recommended, and directed implementation of a three node fault tolerant Microsoft Exchange E-mail System that proved to be 100% reliable (no lost messages or attachments) with 99.9% uptime. Solution employed leading edge clustered server technology.

This e-mail solution rapidly evolved into a mission critical system by providing domestic and international message delivery in less than 3 seconds. Enterprise wide productivity gains were so significant (e.g. cut model home development cycle time 17%) that CFO declared system mission critical within 90 days of implementation.
